Greek Community of Toronto / Pilaros Taste of the Danforth Zorba World Record Attempt
August 10, 2013 01:30 PM
Danforth - Toronto
The Greek Community of Toronto is partnering with Pilaros Taste of the Danforth to set a NEW WORLD RECORD on Saturday August 10th.
Zorba for Prostate Cancer – Guinness World Record
In celebration of the Festival’s 20th anniversary, we are inviting 10,000 of our friends to join us in breaking the world record for the largest Zorba dance – ever. We have been pre-qualified by Guinness World Records to attempt to break the previous world record, which was set by the City of Volos, Greece, in 2012, with 5,614 dancers.
As part of our “proof” with respect to the number of participants, we will be selling commemorative blue and white bandanas to participants, for a minimum donation of $2.00. Proceeds will go to Prostate Cancer Canada. As an added bonus, the first two thousand people buying the bandanas will receive a Pilaros Taste of the Danforth T-shirt, compliments of the festival’s Title Sponsor.
Bandanas will be sold between 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 10th along the Danforth. We will be setting a new Guinness World Record at 1:40 p.m.
Prostate Cancer Canada raises funds for the development of programs related to awareness and public education, advocacy, support of those affected, and research into the prevention, detection, treatment and cure of prostate cancer. For more information, please refer to: prostatecancer.ca
Show up by 12:00 noon for some practice in advance of the world record attempt which begins at 1:40 CHTO will be broadcasting live across the Danforth directing people to where they can buy the bandanas that identify participants.
Anyone who wants to help teach Hellenes & Philhellenes how to do the dance, please come to a meeting at Frankland P.S. (Danforth & Logan) at 11:00 a.m. Thank you!
