Crystal Fountain Banquet Halls - Markham
Working together, we collected over $60,000 dollars towards the teaching of the Greek language in Toronto. We extend our deep thanks to all of our supporters!
Dear fellow Canadians and members of the Hellenic communities in Montréal, Ottawa, and Toronto:
Greetings from beautiful Athens!
I am writing to invite you all to rally behind a wonderful event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Canada-Greece diplomatic relations this fall.
At a difficult time in this wonderful country, the legendary Mary Linda and PetrosImvrios will carry to Canada the joy and sounds of Greece that will warm the heart and bring to your respective cities some of the finest music this country has to offer. Mary Fardis of Platinum Productions of Toronto has agreed to be tour coordinator.
I have championed Canadian artists and productions coming to Greece since my arrival in Athens almost two years ago: Cirque de Soleil, Diana Krall, pianists Jan Lisiecki, MarikaBournaki and Québec sensation Alain Lefèvre. I believed it was important, therefore, to support Greek artists in some way.
I am grateful that the three Hellenic communities have engaged to support and embrace concerts in Montréal, Ottawa and Toronto for a worthy cause, the teaching of the Greek language.
Proceeds from the concerts will benefit this noble cause in each city.
As agreed with each community, production costs will be paid from the income of tickets sold by them.I have worked with companies in Greece and Canada to sponsor this tour to ensure expenses are kept as low as possible. Air Transat was kind enough to cover return air tickets for the artists.
We would welcome additional sponsors! In this way proceeds can be maximized that will remain your respective communities for the purpose intended.
My sincere hope is that these concerts will be a celebration of the ties that bind Greece and Canada and will bring everyone together. Supporting the teaching of the Greek language as we mark this milestone diplomatic anniversary also celebrates the cultural diversity which makes Canada unique.
With my best wishes,
Ambassador of Canada to the Hellenic Republic
